COWI

COWI is a multidisciplinary, internationally operating, engineering company in design, assessment and repair activities within traditional disciplines of civil, transportation, building and environmental engineering and planning. Since the start in 1930, COWI has participated in more than 15000 projects in 75 countries. Infrastructure construction is a speciality of COWI. Lately COWI has designed very large tunnels like the Great Belt East Tunnel, Denmark, the Prevesa Tunnel, Greece and the Spree Tunnel in Berlin, Germany. Currently the Malmų City Tunnel is being designed by COWI in JV with VBB in Sweden. Major R&D work has been performed in house following the involvement in analysing the fires in the Great Belt tunnel and the Channel tunnel. COWI has designed more than 1500 bridges built throughout the world.

Dr. Rostam is overall responsible for concrete and durability technology within COWI. Internationally recognised expert within this field. He chaired all CEB-activities on concrete durability since 1978, and chairs now fib Commission 5 "Structural Service Life Aspects". Scientific Manager of EU-Project DuraCrete. Member of the Management Group of the EU Thematic Network DuraNet. Scientific Manager and Co-ordinator of DARTS and member of the Advisory Group of the Thematic Network Fire in Tunnels.
