IST IST is the largest engineering school in Portugal. The research group has existed more than 20 years experience of development of software to solve engineering fluid flow problems in boilers, furnaces, kilns, and several heat transfer equipment, indoor fires and forest fire spread. The group includes specialists in radiative heat transfer and application of measuring techniques to turbulent heat and fluid flow. In addition IST group has organised more that 10 International Conferences on applications of Laser Doppler Anemometry to fluid mechanics and has developed own measuring equipment in the past, optical units, counters and presently the development includes own developed DPIV system.
